Nelson Mandela was more than a strong leader, he was a symbol of peace. To relate to this years NHD theme, Rights and Responsibilities, Nelson Mandela showed lots of rights and responsibility. Nelson Mandela, fairly young, worked for his mother while his adoptive father was chief. When he was older, Mandela went to school.He received racial slurs from the white students. He though, got higher grades in school, by competing his work on time and studying. On December 10th, 1993 Mandela won the Nobel Peace Prize, which took great responsibility.He was also The president of South Africa which took both rights and responsibility. As we reflect on these events, we see that Nelson Mandela had the right to be African American and proud. He took many responsibilities in his lifetime and succeeded in life. He was a great leader and symbol of peace, he will be known for many things. We remember him most by the greatest person to take on every right and responsibility there is.
